E.I. Gippius Mansion - The Main Directorate and Headquarters of a separate corps of gendarmes
Detailed description
The house of E. I. Gippius is located on Khrustatskaya Street in St. Petersburg. The Neo–Renaissance style of the house in its current form was built in 1885 by architect Christian Holberg. Once upon a time, on the site where the mansion now stands, there was a two-story wooden house with a stone basement, which belonged to Admiral P.F. Ansu. During the reconstruction of the mansion in 1873, the new owner, D.I. Pavlov, expanded the territory by adding a two-story wing, and in July 1900 the building was acquired by the headquarters of a Separate Corps of Gendarmes of Russia. And also on his initiative, architect I.Y.Mosinsky built a four-story wing in the courtyard.
