P.P. Weiner's apartment house
Detailed description
The Weiner Apartment Building was built in 1892 by architect Boris Girshovich, a well-known architect in St. Petersburg who worked on projects of many apartment buildings in the spirit of eclecticism and Art Nouveau. The building is a five-storey building in which the balconies are supported by Atlanteans. And above the windows there are male mascarons (male heads carved out of marble). In addition, the facades of the building are decorated with lion heads and two pairs of griffins, which are located under the cornice of the southern facade. The house is also decorated with a corner bay window, which is crowned by a turret with a weather vane and the date of construction of the house. The decor of the first floor of the house resembles the style of Florentine palazzi. We will not ignore the beautiful wooden doors in the three front rooms, which are decorated with delicate canopies.
