Imperial Trellis Manufactory - Home of His Majesty's Own Convoy
Detailed description
The trellis manufactory is one of the first enterprises in the city of St. Petersburg for the production of trellises for palace interiors. It was founded by Peter the Great in 1730. The trellis manufactory was moved to Pervaya Beregovaya Street, after which the street was renamed Trellis. It was located on the site of the current house number 27, and later a house on the other side of the street was added to it. The company existed until 1858 and was closed due to lack of funds and unprofitability. Since 1859, the building housed the Engineering Department and barracks. The two-storey stone building was rebuilt from a small stone house of a Trellis manufactory. In the courtyard there were wooden stables and outbuildings built by military engineer Captain Ivanov. The building can be attributed to the eclectic architectural style.
