Alexander Institute
Detailed description
The historic building was opened in 1765 and had the status of a college. The status of the institute was acquired only in 1891, and at the end of the 19th century, the pedagogical faculty appeared at the institute. The institute building includes several three-storey buildings that border three courtyards. And they are connected to each other by a semicircular housing. On the facades you can see the pilasters of the Ionic order, which were preserved in their original form during the reconstruction of 1821-1824. In 1941, as a result of the war, the southeastern building was destroyed, which was reconstructed in 1946-53 by architect Benois.
