Apartment house of L.I. Nezhinskaya
Detailed description
The only striking example of the Egyptian style in the northern capital, with a similar concept, the house was built at the request of the customer in 1913. A five-storey residential building with an attic and a basement. The two lower floors have columns with the face of the goddess Hathor; the main entrances are decorated with huge statues of Egyptian gods. The columns on the facade imitate the columns of the temple of Isis on the island of Philae. In the 1910s, the Romanian and Belgian embassies were located here. In 2001, the house was included by the KGIOP in the "List of newly identified objects of historical, scientific, artistic or other cultural value." There is an interesting legend about the house that says: If you kiss your beloved in the arch of this house, the Egyptian gods will approve of your relationship. The lovers will receive the blessing of Hathor, the secretary of the heavenly chancellery of Ra will record this union in his book, after which the Sun God himself will unite the hearts of the lovers forever.
