Detailed description
The burial mounds of the Vyatichi are proof of the most ancient culture. The mounds that were filled in the 11th and 13th centuries by the Vyatichi, who lived on the upper and middle Oka and on the Moskva River. The lands around these rivers were inhabited by humans back in the Iron Age. Across most of the Moscow Tsaritsyno Park in the south of the city, Vyatichi settlements were located along the banks of the Yazvenka River. About 12 settlements and about 130 burials and several burial mounds were discovered. A lot of various ornaments, ancient hryvnias, and crosses have been found. Some paths in Tsaritsyno Park are laid between ancient mounds.
