Shaped gates
Detailed description
They were built in the 18th century according to the plan of Vasily Bazhenov. These gates were built at the Tsaritsyn complex. The gate marks the conventional boundary between the palace and park part of the estate. Bazhenov himself calls them "curly" because of their intricate shapes and decor. The sculptural gates are also called "Grape Gates" because of the delicate white stone pattern inside the pointed arch, which is slightly similar in outline to the vine branch. At the beginning of the 19th century, the building was also decorated with 4 white stone decorative vases, 2 sculptures of cupids, as well as 2 ceramic statues of pugs.
