Shaped bridge
Detailed description
The sculptural bridge in Tsaritsyno is a unique monument of pseudo-Gothic Russian architecture of the 2nd half of the 18th century. The bridge is located on a steep hillside, and is also designed to conceal the palace panorama from visitors to the residence. Architect Vasily Bazhenov gives the bridge the image of a fortress, due to the large towers with lancet openings. The architect himself calls this bridge "Curly" in connection with the intricate decor. Scarlet brick and snow-white granite, characteristic of all Tsaritsyn buildings, are intertwined here. As well as carved cornices, diamond-shaped linings, columns and pyramids. Currently, the main alley leads through it to the castle.
