Apartment house of the Department of Institutions
Detailed description
The building was built in 1901-1903 by architect A. F. Krasovsky. It was intended for the accommodation of teachers of the Smolny Institute of the Educational Society of Noble Maidens. In the period from 1912 to 1935, the famous traveler and explorer of Mongolia and Tibet lived in this house. In honor of this, in 2001, the only Russian memorial museum of the traveler was opened in the house.
