The building was built in 1858-1859. It is known that the house was residential until 1907. 
The Starichkov House is popular because it was here that A. N. Lodygin put his first lantern in 1873, who had a workshop nearby.  In honor of this, a monument to the lamplighter was erected next to this house in 1989, and in 1996 a memorial plaque was erected to the world's first electric lantern.

Здание было построено в 1858-1859 годах. Известно, что до 1907 года дом был жилой. 
Дом Старичкова популярен тем, что именно здесь поставил свой первый фонарь в 1873 году А. Н. Лодыгин, у которого рядом была мастерская.  В честь этого в 1989 году рядом с этим домом был поставлен памятник фонарщику, а в 1996 установили мемориальную доску первому в мире фонарю на электрике.
