Lamplighter

The monument to a man sitting on a sidewalk fence with a ladder and a rope in his hands is a monument to the vanished profession of lamplighter. This landmark is made of cast iron. This monument was erected in 1873 on the very spot where the first electric lantern was installed, which left St. Petersburg lamplighters unemployed.
