The compound of the Leushinsky Convent
Detailed description
The compound of the Leushinsky Convent was founded with the blessing of John of Kronstadt. The building was built according to the project of architect Nikolai Nikonov. The consecration of the main chapel of the church in the name of John the Theologian was performed on November 21, 1894. The first rector of the church was the high priest John Ornatsky. On the second floor there were guest rooms, where John of Kronstadt, who often served here, lived. In 1932, the last Leusha nuns were arrested, and in January 1938, the last rector of the church, Fyodor Okunev, was shot.
