Directorate of Imperial Theaters

The street, consisting of five buildings, is considered the most proportional and symmetrical in the world and has no analogues. The buildings were built in the period from 1828 to 1834 in a single facade, creating a harmonious ensemble. The Alexandrinsky Theater ensemble itself consists of an interconnected system of squares and streets made in the same architectural style. It is home to the oldest ballet school in the world, the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. The building's management began to be treated in 1836 due to the protests of the merchants of Gostiny Dvor.
