Detailed description
The date of construction of the five-storey massive apartment building falls on 1828. At that time, the building became the first five-story and tallest residential building in St. Petersburg. The house was built for a rich merchant, adviser of commerce and moneylender I. D. Zverkov. The moneylender's services were used by many notable people and representatives of the elite of St. Petersburg. The main tenants of the apartments were merchants and officials. In 1829-1831, the famous writer Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol lived in the house.
