Mansion of M.K. Morozova
Detailed description
The mansion was built in 1879, but in 1894 it was rebuilt by Viktor Alexandrovich Mazyrin.
The decoration of the veranda is stylized according to the motifs of the Greek classical period. The interiors of the building are an extraordinary fusion of different styles and cultures. The Egyptian entrance door with mysterious signs on the walls is guarded by sphinxes, and in front of it stood a real sarcophagus with a mummy. The room where the winter garden used to be was equipped to accommodate Morozov's large collection. Sculptures were placed on consoles in the eastern part. The lost stucco decoration of the mezzanine in the form of lion heads, made according to archival drawings, is installed on the western facade. At the final stage, the facade was painted turquoise. The facility became the winner of the Moscow Government's competition for the best project in the field of protection and popularization of cultural heritage sites "Restaurant of Moscow 2020" in the nominations "for the best organization of repair and restoration work", "for high-quality interior repairs", "for the best project of repair and adaptation to modern use".
