The Basilica of St. Catherine of Alexandria is a Catholic church, which is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Russia. The temple was built in 1783, and although it was the largest, it was not considered the most important in the city. In 2013, the Catholic church was awarded the status of a "minor basilica". It is given to the most significant of all Catholic churches in the world by decision of the Pope. This is the only Catholic church in Russia to be awarded such a title. Admission is free, anyone can visit and inspect the exterior and interior of the temple.
