Portico of the Feather Bed line
Detailed description
At the end of the 18th century, Feather beds were built here, where bird feathers were sold. And later, at the beginning of the 19th century, a portico was added to the end of the existing structure, designed by a Russian architect. In construction, he adhered to such an architectural style as classicism. It is a monumental Doric addition with six columns. It is this portico that reminds him of the Feather Beds that were once here. In the middle of the 20th century, a metro station was under construction here, so this building had to be dismantled. It was only in 1972 that the Featherbed Portico was restored in almost the same form under the direction of another architect.
