The house was built at the end of the 18th century. The building is a five-storey stone building. The walls are plastered and painted beige. The facade of the house is decorated with high-relief belt figures of Atlanteans, they are located in the walls between the windows of the last floor. The windows are large and rectangular. The building's plan is close to a rectangle. The building is crowned with a pitched roof made of metal profiles. Now the decorative elements of the exterior and interior of the house are well preserved. The five-star Grand Hotel Europa is currently located in the building. The building is known for the fact that in different years P. I. Tchaikovsky, I. S. Turgenev, I. K. Aivazovsky, A.V. Lunacharsky, V. V. Mayakovsky, A.M. Gorky, D. D. Shostakovich, I. O. Dunaevsky, K. G. Paustovsky, I. Strauss, the Swedish King Gustav V, G. Wells, B. Shaw stayed here. Nearby are the Mikhailovsky Garden, the Russian Ethnographic Museum and the Great St. Petersburg State Circus.
