A house with a tower on Smolenskaya Square
Detailed description
The house on Smolenskaya Square was built between 1939 and 1956; since 2008, the house has been listed as a cultural monument of regional importance. Architect Ivan Zholtovsky began construction of the house for the People's Committee of the USSR in 1939; the large eight-story building was designed in the ceremonial style of Stalinist architecture. With attached towers, the house has an asymmetrical design reminiscent of the Italian palazzo style.
