Detailed description

This architectural structure resembles a gingerbread house. The facades surprise with their variety: hipped roofs, kokoshniks combined with ceramics of different colors, original melon columns, Russian stucco and brickwork. A stained glass window has been preserved in the central entrance, which faces the street. Nikolai Nikitich Nikonov was one of the famous St. Petersburg architects of the early 20th century, who worked a lot and fruitfully in the field of church architecture. The landlord, an architect himself, built this house for himself. Initially, 22 apartments were built in the house. Today, the house on Kolokolnaya is an object of cultural heritage of regional significance and has been an example of the "Russian style" in architecture for more than a hundred years. By 1908, the architect sold the house to Dionysius Avrakhov, a wealthy St. Petersburg resident who owned the house until 1917.
