The main house of the estate Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo
Detailed description
Since the middle of the 17th century, the village of Pokrovskoye was located here, which got its name due to the previously erected church of the Intercession of the Virgin. The estate acquired its current appearance thanks to the last owner of this place, Evgenia Fedorovna Shakhovskaya—Glebova-Streshneva, who changed the appearance of the estate beyond recognition by making various extensions, as well as adding the style of the fabulous Middle Ages. According to the design of architects A. Rezanov and K. Tersky, red brick wings in the pseudo-Russian style were erected on the sides of the house, and then a fence with red brick turrets appeared according to the design of F. Kolbe and A. Popov. In Soviet times, the estate with nearby dachas, where Karamzin, actor Vasily Luzhsky, doctors Botkin and Bers lived, was turned into a sanatorium of the Central Committee. In addition, there was also a museum and a recreation center for pilots. In the early 90s, the estate suffered a fire.
