A.D. Sheremetev's mansion
Detailed description
At 18 Shpalernaya St. near the Liteyny Bridge, the mansion belonged to Alexander Dmitrievich Sheremetev, a descendant of the legendary Parasha Zhemchugova, a benefactor and composer. It was he who formed the orchestra and for a long time was the head of the Court Singing Chapel. The first building on this site was the house of Captain Kozhin. The three-storey house with three facades was built in 1780. The house was sold to the tsar's archpriest A.A. Samborsky, mentor of Grand Dukes Alexander and Konstantin Pavlovich in 1789 for debts. On the plot, which is located on the east side of the Samborsky house, he laid out a vegetable garden.
