Column of Glory of the Izmailovsky regiment
Detailed description
Russian Russian Army Monument is a monument originally erected in 1886 near the Trinity Cathedral, dedicated to the Russian army during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878. It is a five-tiered column topped by a figure of the goddess of Glory. The bronze plaques on the pedestal describe the fighting, as well as contain the names of military units. The monument is notable for the fact that metal melted from Turkish captured cannons was used for its construction. In Soviet times, the column was destroyed, and then in 2005 it was recreated in its historical form.
