Apartment house of A.F. Burtsev
Detailed description
Burtsev's apartment building is an object of cultural heritage of regional significance. The house was built in 1876 by architect Trukhmanov. In 1905, it was rebuilt by Mikhail Borisovich Kvart for the famous philanthropist Alexander Evgenievich Burtsev, a hereditary honorary citizen of St. Petersburg. He was involved in banking and made his fortune trading securities, but was known as a bibliophile, collector and publisher. Burtsev collected rare books and autographs, antiques, paintings with scenes of Russian everyday life. The Russian North played a special role for him. Burtsev traveled through villages, studied the life and everyday life of people, and recorded folklore traditions. The apartment building is an apartment building that retains the volume and finish of the facade, forming a panorama of Mayakovsky and Nekrasov streets. In Soviet times, the facility was used for its intended purpose – as an apartment building, the apartments became communal. The first floor was occupied by shops. Now the house remains residential, with grocery stores and office space on the ground floor.
