House E. Paulsen - L.M. Kharlamov's Apartment house
Detailed description
At the end of the 18th century, architect G. Paulsen built a three-story building on a corner site, in 1833 architect L. Schaufelberger added a neighboring block to it and erected a two-story wing. In 1902-1904, engineer Kharlamov rebuilt the existing building on the site into a commercial building. The old building was raised by three floors, the facade was decorated in a new style, and wings were added to the courtyard. The exterior of the building has been preserved to this day. Only the conical ends of the corner bay window have been lost. The bay windows are surrounded by stylized floral decorations. The piers between the windows are filled with the same ornament. They are decorated with stucco and yellow brick. The dancer and choreographer M. M. Fokin lived in the house.
