The Ensemble of the Main Palace Administration is an institution responsible for the organization and maintenance of palaces, parks and gardens in St. Petersburg. In 1711, a court staff was opened in St. Petersburg under Peter I, and a palace administration was opened under Catherine I. In 1717, the Palace Chancellery was transformed into the "Main Palace Board." In 1739, due to the abolition of the court staff in St. Petersburg, the Main Palace Administration was moved to Moscow.
