Imperial Railway Station
Detailed description
The Imperial Railway Station in Moscow was built to serve and dispatch government trains, starting with the train of Emperor Nicholas II to the coronation. The historical idea was that this particular station should serve as a center for receiving or dispatching important goods throughout the country. Due to this special purpose, the station was built of beautiful facing bricks and decorated with a tower with a spire. The platform was covered with an exquisitely carved roof, and a square was located around the station. However, the plans were changed. The coronation train from St. Petersburg arrived at the Brest railway Station. Later, imperial trains with royal families still stopped at this station. After some time, it became part of an ordinary passenger railway station for suburban trains.
