F.N. Petrovo-Solovovo House - Benardaki House - Yusupov House - Actor's House
Detailed description
This building had several owners. The site originally belonged to Prince N. Y. Trubetskoy, and a wooden mansion was built on it. The house received its current recognizable features in the form of a six-columned portico in 1822, when the building was rebuilt by architect M. A. Ovsyannikov for the new owner, Colonel F. N. Petrovo-Solovovo. Later, the owner changed again and the family coat of arms of Count V. K. Branitsky appeared on the pediment. In the 1840s, the house passed to the merchant D. E. Benardaki and underwent further changes. The last owner of the mansion was Princess Z. N. Yusupova. Since 1924, the building housed the Actor's House named after K. S. Stanislavsky. This building stands out prominently on Nevsky Prospekt with its palatial appearance among the nearby apartment buildings.
