Apartment house of M. Zhuchkova
Detailed description
The apartment building was designed by a famous architect for a certain M. Zhuchkova, currently there are no reliable sources of who exactly this woman was. Valentin Evgenievich Dubovsky, the architect of the building, built more than thirty apartment buildings for wealthy individuals from 1906 to 1917. The house of Zhuchkova dates back to its construction in 1911, and architect Leonid Borisovich Gorenberg was also involved in the construction. Popular architects at the time tried to intertwine Art Nouveau with elements of Gothic and Romanesque architecture. The interiors of the apartments also combined several trends - Gothic, Rococo and classical. In the facade of the house, you can see the horizontal divisions and the peculiar architecture of the coffers with sockets decorating the bottom of the balconies. The main entrance is decorated with bas-reliefs depicting cavaliers and ladies in medieval costumes. Unfortunately, after the 1980 renovation, the ceiling paintings and hardware details of the building remained lost.
